*So I wanted to write a sad song. But I kept struggling with capturing my sad fealings. Somehow, I captured this! Some bizarre journey into suburban complacency and struggle for meaning. Come to think of it, I was living in a mini mansion at the time, in one of the upper class suburbs of Eugene, Oregon. I was a pretty well known activist living next door to a police saergent. Our kids played together. It was all paradoxical. And this song is about all the neighborhood morning hello's with the neighbors, well intentioned and kind, but almost always somewhat awkward.
